Adolescent Learners: Informal Education

Course Overview

This course is delivered online or in person and is perfect for educators in informal settings who would like to learn more about adolescents, best practice of engaging this age group and increase their confidence.

It may be that educators are more familiar working with primary aged students and need an extra boost for secondary pupils.

There are two variations of the course:

Engaging Adolescent Learners

This is a 90 minute course which looks at the differences between younger students and adolescents and covers the top level developmental changes for people at this age. This course covers five basic principles of successfully engaging adolescent learners. The course encourages the group to share their own experience and best practice. Ultimately the course addresses some of the challenges of working with adolescents but aims to encourage all participants to recognise the incredible opportunities of working with this age group too.

Engaging Adolescent Learners PLUS Understanding Adolescent Development

This is a three hour workshop (including a break) that covers all of the above. This session also discusses in more detail the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development to help build confidence in participants and better understand adolescents in general. All sessions are delivered by Rosie. Rosie is an expert Presenter, Content Developer and Trainer with an active interest in Adolescent Psychology. Find out more here.
